Dr de Silva holds the medical degrees of Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery, she completed her psychiatry training at Charing Cross and St George’s hospital in London. She is registered with the General Medical Council Specialist Register and has been granted the Approved Clinician status as possessing the expertise in the assessment and treatment of mental disorders by the Secretary of State under section 12 (2) of the Mental Health Act of 1983.
Dr de Silva was a Consultant Psychiatrist in both Acute Psychiatry and Eating Disorders for Berkshire Healthcare NHS Trust for over 20 years. She has extensive experience in the assessment and treatment of all general psychiatric and emotional issues including anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, addictions, psychosis, and post-traumatic stress disorder. In addition, Dr de Silva has a specialist interest in the assessment, treatment, and management of Eating Disorders, including anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, and binge eating disorder. During her career within the NHS, she set up and led a specialist Eating Disorder service in Berkshire which continues to operate today. Through this work, Dr de Silva gained a special interest in Women’s mental health issues.
In addition to her clinical roles, Dr de Silva has held the position of Clinical Director for Berkshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. She has also been the Clinical Director of The Cardinal Clinic, a private psychiatric hospital in Windsor.
