I qualified as a medical doctor in 1994 and carried out my postgraduate psychiatric training in west London with the Charing Cross & St Mary’s Psychiatric Training Scheme, London.
I have carried out postgraduate training in cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) at the Institute of Psychiatry, Maudsley Hospital, Kings College London, leading to the award of a Post Graduate Diploma in CBT in 2006.
I was awarded membership of the Royal College of Psychiatrists (MRCPsych) by examination in 2002 and was elected to the Fellowship of the Royal College of Psychiatrists (FRCPsych) in 2013.
I am on the General Medical Councils (GMC) specialist register with dual accreditation in general adult psychiatry and addiction psychiatry. My GMC number is 4680950.
I have been an NHS consultant in west London since 2006. My NHS practice is at Charing Cross Hospital, London where I work with a multidisciplinary Crisis and Assessment Team in Hammersmith.
I have been in private practice for several years and I was the medical director at Cygnet Hospital Harrow-on-the-Hill, (formerly Bowden House Clinic) for 7 years.
I am the Public Engagement Officer of the London Division of the Royal College of Psychiatrists. I have an MSc in Healthcare Leadership, from the prestigious NHS Leadership Academy.
I have an interest in medical education and I am an honorary clinical senior lecturer and academic tutor at Imperial College, London. I was formerly the college tutor for psychiatric trainees at the Charing Cross hospital site with responsibility for psychiatric training. I am an examiner for both Imperial College medical students and for the final membership exams for the Royal College of Psychiatrists.
