Dr Leon Rozewicz joined Priory Group in 2009 as a consultant psychiatrist at Priory Hospital North London. Dr Rozewicz became medical director of Priory North London Hospital in 2015.
Dr Rozewicz teaches medical students from University College London and has specialist expertise in using biological approaches to treat psychiatric disorders. He uses genetic testing to find the most suitable medications for each individual. Dr Rozewicz also uses repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) to treat depression.
Dr Rozewicz works closely with a number of experienced therapists and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) coaches, to combine medication with psychological treatment. He takes an individualized approach to each case, adapting treatment and therapy to each patient’s needs.
Training
Dr Rozewicz completed his undergraduate training at the Middlesex Hospital, University College London. As an undergraduate, he trained in neurology at Harvard Medical School.
Dr Rozewicz completed his postgraduate training in psychiatry at St George’s Hospital in London and at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery.
Dr Rozewicz has been a consultant psychiatrist since 1995 and has worked in the NHS for 21 years. He has been a lecturer and an honorary senior lecturer in psychiatry at St George’s Hospital Medical School in London. Prior to training in psychiatry, Dr Rozewicz completed training in general practice.
Dr Rozewicz was the clinical director for acute psychiatry at Barnet Enfield and Haringey Mental Health NHS Trust from 2010 to 2014, and the associate medical director for Barnet Services for six years prior to that.
Dr Rozewicz established the adult attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) clinic in Barnet Enfield and Haringey Mental Health NHS Trust in 2007. At that time, it was only the second such service in the UK. Dr Rozewicz is on the UK Adult ADHD Network (UKAAN) training committee, and he teaches the only training course in ADHD in the UK. He regularly gives talks on adult ADHD to GPs and consultants.
Dr Rozewicz has worked as a health assessor for the General Medical Council (GMC) for 10 years and was on the GMC health assessment training team for three years. He has specialist expertise in the mental health problems of medical professionals.
Dr Rozewicz has served as the vice-chair of the Faculty of General Adult Psychiatry in the Royal College of Psychiatrists. He is a much sought-after expert in medicolegal cases and is frequently instructed by solicitors working in cases arising out of historic child sexual abuse. He has given expert evidence in the High Court.
Dr Rozewicz was elected as a Fellow of the Royal College of Psychiatrists in 2005. He is a member of the American Psychiatric Association and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Medicine.
Dr Rozewicz is on the Specialist Register of the GMC in psychiatry and general practice and is an approved clinician under the terms of the Mental Health Act, 1983.
